The FAQ covers the basics prospective members usually want to know before creating an account or joining a league. For a screen-by-screen explanation of making picks and following a week, use How to Play.
What Four Down is, how access works, and what you need before joining a league.
What is Four Down?+
Four Down is a private, mobile-first pro-football pick competition platform. Members make weekly selections inside commissioner-managed leagues, follow live results, and build a season record over time.
Is Four Down a sportsbook or wagering platform?+
No. Four Down does not accept bets or wagers, hold player funds, or process money based on game outcomes. It provides picks, league rules, scoring, standings, and related competition features.
How do I join a league?+
Create and verify your Four Down account, then join through a league invitation or other access made available by the platform. Creating an account by itself does not automatically place you into a league.
Can I play in more than one league?+
Yes. A verified account can participate in multiple leagues when invited, subject to the platform and league limits in effect at that time.
Do I need to download an app?+
No app-store download is required for the current version. Four Down is designed as a mobile-first web experience and works in a modern phone, tablet, or desktop browser.
FAQ
Gameplay basics
The core ideas behind a Four Down week without walking through every screen.
How many picks do I make each week?+
The standard regular-season format uses four required picks. League settings may change the required count for playoff rounds, so your league's approved rules are always the final authority.
Do all of my picks have to win?+
Yes under the standard format. A weekly entry is successful only when every required pick wins. A loss or a push on a required pick makes the weekly entry unsuccessful.
What happens on a push?+
Under the standard Four Down rules, a push counts as a loss for the weekly entry. This keeps the weekly result binary and avoids partial-credit outcomes.
What are the lines and teaser adjustments?+
Four Down publishes platform source values for eligible games. A league's approved settings can then apply a predefined adjustment, often called a teaser, to create the lines members use for that league.
Why can both teams in a game sometimes have positive numbers?+
That can happen after a league's teaser adjustment is applied to the underlying source line. The two league selections are still tied to opposite sides of the same game result.
Can I select both sides of the same game?+
Four Down supports a straddle, where both sides of the same game are selected, when permitted by the league's rules. Each selected side counts toward the required weekly pick total.
Can I change my picks after submitting them?+
Yes, as long as the affected selection is still unlocked. Editing a submitted entry invalidates the prior confirmation, so you must reconfirm the updated entry before it is treated as complete.
When do picks lock?+
Each selection locks at that game's kickoff. Four Down does not accept a new or changed selection after the relevant game has started.
FAQ
Privacy and league integrity
How hidden picks, commissioner access, and account controls are handled.
Can my commissioner see my picks before kickoff?+
No. Commissioners can manage the league and see completion status, but unrevealed member selections stay concealed before the applicable game kicks off.
When can other members see my picks?+
Selections reveal as their games begin. Picks tied to later games remain concealed until those games reach kickoff, so the full entry is not exposed early.
Why does Four Down require a verified account?+
Four Down is built around one verified account per person so league membership, submitted entries, receipts, notifications, and historical records can be tied to a consistent identity.
Does Four Down keep a record of important league changes?+
Yes. Finalizations, corrections, exceptions, rule revisions, and other important administrative actions are preserved in league or platform history so material changes are auditable.
What information does Four Down collect?+
Four Down uses account, league, gameplay, communications, and technical information needed to operate the service. The public Privacy Policy explains those categories and the related user choices in more detail.
FAQ
Weekly operation
What to expect as a week opens, games are played, and results become official.
When do weekly picks become available?+
Each league has a scheduled release time for its weekly slate. Once the platform source values and league lines are ready, the slate becomes available according to that league's configured release timing.
Will Four Down remind me when picks are available?+
Four Down supports in-app notifications and optional email or push delivery for league events and reminders. Delivery preferences and quiet-hour settings can affect when optional notifications arrive.
Are standings final while games are still being played?+
No. Live and weekly standings can show provisional results while games are in progress. Official season records update after the week is finalized.
What does a league commissioner control?+
Commissioners manage league membership, approved competition settings, rules, league-line review, exceptions, and finalization. Platform source values and system-wide controls remain separate from commissioner authority.
What happens if a game has no valid line, is canceled, or a technical issue affects a pick?+
Four Down includes exception and No Contest procedures for situations where a valid weekly result cannot be handled normally. The exact resolution depends on the event and the league's approved rules, and administrative resolutions are recorded.
Do the playoffs work exactly like the regular season?+
Not necessarily. A league can use different required-pick counts, teaser adjustments, and available selection types by playoff round. The approved league rules show the settings that apply.
Where can I see the exact rules for my league?+
Every league has an approved Rules page. That page is the authority for the league's settings and competition rules; the public FAQ and How to Play pages are general guides.
